Hi Guys!
I am the Deepest Bear and welcome to my home page. As those of you who have met me know, I have been a keen freediver specialising in No Limits and Static Apnea for the last few years. My personal bests are 122m in No Limits (achieved with the help of Tanya Streeter - see the pics on the Summer Tour page), 101 m in "tech diver pocket hiding" (see the link below to my Red Sea page), a special record of 3 hours Static Apnea (judged by Kirk Krack and Martin Stepanek) and I have also done 103m variable weight when I needed to escape from my scuba dive captors.
After three years working hard as a promoter, supporter, shoulder to cry on, good luck charm and honey munching buddy to freedivers all over the world - the time has come to take retirement. Over the years, I have seen many places and dived with many buddies. Locations I have visited include Nice, Dolphin, Hawaii, Spetses, Vancouver, Cyprus, the ice in Austria, Chepstow, Thailand, Cornwall, Florida, Hurghada, London, Sharm, Dorothea, California, Blackpool and of course, Dahab. I have dived with all the greats - starting with Loic and the boys at CIPA and staying deep, long and stylish throughout. Many of you can find your photo with me somewhere on this site.
But a bear gets tired of the fame and the fortune. The paparazzi become too much after a while.... and my PA is getting lazier and lazier about running my public relations... so for the last few months, I have been seeking a retirement spot.
It seemed to me that Dahab was the perfect place. I can sit around and smoke a shesha with all the greats - everyone seems to pop into the Blue Hole occasionally. Chat with the camels and sleep in the sun. Robin and Lotta Ericson have offered to adopt me and so, sadly but also happily - last weekend I finally made my move here. My PA brought me out for a week's training. Happy to see her finally get through her own deep demons and reach a static time slightly more in line in my own, I was happy to take my leave and say good bye. When she left, I hid in the jeep and rode home with Lotta... and I'm still here.
Say hi next time you are in Dahab! and if I get bored maybe Lotta will bring me to the occasional competition to say hi again.
